The Lighthouse Gospelettes>
2005 Memorial Day Weekend Gospel Classic A Success

June 15, 2005

On May 29, 2005 at 5:00 p.m., Getan Records and The
Lighthouse Gospelettes sponsored a Memorial Day Weekend
Gospel Classic featuring Luther Barnes and The Sunset
Jubilaires of Rocky Mount, NC. The concert was held at
the Hill Chapel Baptist Church Life Center in Athens,
Georgia. If you missed this concert, you definitely missed
a treat! Getan Records and The Lighthouse Gospelettes
would like to thank The Hill Chapel Baptist Church for
allowing us to use their facility (Life Center). We also
thank all of the local sponsors and patrons, friends,
family and fans for coming out to support the Memorial Day
Weekend Gospel Classic. Thanks to the Radio Stations and
DJ’s in Athens and surrounding areas who promoted the
Classic. Thanks to all our ticket outlet locations. We
also would like to thank our staff for keeping things
organized and handling things in such a professional
manner. We thank all of the guest groups who appeared on
program. This concert wouldn’t have been what it was
without you.

The program was kicked off by Master of Ceremony, Mr. Jerry
Wilson of WBKZ Radio Station – 880 AM in Athens, GA. The
Devotion/Praise and Worship Service was kicked off and
carried through with high praise and spirit by Tahila of
Timothy Baptist Church, Athens, GA. The Gospel Classic
Song Celebration followed with Genesis of Athens, Georgia,
The Young Believers of Athens, Georgia, New Found Faith of
Hartwell, Georgia, and The Lighthouse Gospelettes of
Athens, GA. Last but not least, Luther Barnes and The
Sunset Jubilaires blessed our souls with songs like: I’m
Still Holding On, What More Can I Do, I Know It Was Jesus,
I Know He Cares, That Other Shore, What Will He Say, and
the Title song from their 2005 Grammy Nominated CD for
“Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album” titled, “It’s Your
Time”, and much, much more!

When I, Dierdra Stroud-Lee, President/CEO of Getan Records
and member of The Lighthouse Gospelettes asked the audience
if they were enjoying the Classic, the audience responded
with a big “Yes!”. I asked if they’d like to do it again
next year and received an even bigger, “Yes!”. Therefore,
Getan Records and The Lighthouse Gospelettes are strongly
considering making the Memorial Day Weekend Gospel Classic
an annual event!

Thanks to all Patrons who requested to remain anonymous.

I must admit that due to the rainy weather and the fact
that many people go out of town for the Memorial Day
Weekend, we were optimistic about the program turnout. We
remained faithful and continued to pray for a successful
program and God answered our prayers as we had a full house
on May 29, 2005 at The Hill Chapel Baptist Church Life
Center. This only confirms that through faith in God, we
can do anything but fail.

Again, thanks and God bless!!!!!
